Big Dance commissions acclaimed choreographers to create a dance work that can be learnt by anyone in the world, through online tutorials and community workshops.
In 2019 we’re placing Maroondah City on the global Big Dance map!
What you will get from this November workshop:
Learn the Big Dance 2018, along with ways to modify the choreography to suit all abilities;
Teaching guides and notes to include Big Dance as part of your teaching plan and/or community work;
Professional Learning session with Ausdance Victoria’s Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, Dr Katrina Rank. In addition to a background in education and dance, Katrina works extensively within the creative ageing space.
In 2018 Big Dance engaged thousands of people with one unifying choreographic piece, performed across local, regional and metropolitan communities.
Big Dance 2018 is choreographed by acclaimed choreographers Frances Rings and Craig Bary, with original music by Huey Benjamin. This beautiful choreography has elements of Indigenous Contemporary Dance, and carries the theme of unity.
Big Dance at Maroondah City is organised by Ausdance Victoria and proudly supported by Maroondah City Council through the Arts & Culture Grant 2018/19.
